Around 2 we headed over to the senior center in Pulaski. That's where the baby shower was set up! Polly, Connie and Dianne worked so hard to make it nice!! Dianne made the cake, and I think Polly brought the decorations, and of course Connie always works so hard to do things nice!!! What a great team!
When everyone was there, the first game we did was to decorate onesies in all different sizes. I got to decorate one too! I wasn't really sure what to put on it, but it was fun anyway. Then came the hard part!!! I had to choose a winner!!! I ended up choosing the one Andrea decorated, with a big daisy on it. It was very pretty. At that point, Deb wasn't there. She came later with Declan. Everyone else was there then though. After a while Deb had Jeremy come and get Declan so she could decorate some onesies too. She made 2 really nice ones. One had flowers and vines and the other had a baby and 2 puppies, like we have here! All of the decorated onesies had to stay there to dry, so Connie will be sending them to me soon. Even yesterday they weren't quite dry!
After that, we played a game where everyone had to guess how big around Gracie and I are. They cut off string to show the length they guessed, and then compared it to me. Kelsey was the winner! She did a great job of guessing!
Next game, (as far as I can remember) was the bottle drinking contest. We all got a bottle of water to drink and the fastest to finish it won. Sandy beat us all, but Alex was a close second! I got to keep all the bottles though! I still need to wash them all up though, and I'm kinda dreading that!
The next game was cutting out pictures from magazines to make a collage of the baby. I got to keep all of them, and it was another tough choice! The group Dianne was in was eventually chosen as the winner of that one I think!
Then it was time for me to open all the amazing gifts that people brought!!! All the adorable clothes and diapers and baby things, it was just incredible!!! Near the end, I saw someone was bringing in something that vaguely looked familiar. Then I realized what it was, a cradle that Dad made! Jennifer had used it with her kids, and then Jeremy and Deb used it for Declan, and now they were giving it to me for Gracie!!! Of course, I cried, and so did a lot of other people! It was just amazing for them to give that to me, and they knew how much it would mean!
We got everything into Mom's car, and headed back to her place. I had stayed there the night before, hoping that I could make it home after the shower, but by the time we had my car loaded, all except for the cradle, it was 8 and I was hungry. So I stayed another night and headed home Sunday morning. I sure hated being away from Jeff that whole time, but that's the way it had to be.
I'm still going through and sorting the baby things, cause we did get a lot of hand me down clothes, as well as the new stuff from the shower. I also now have a lot of diapers to start off with!!!
Here are some of the pictures of things from the shower.
