Wow, I can't believe it's been 3 weeks since Gracie was born. She is doing so well, eating well and growing! I don't know what she weighs now, but I'm sure she's grown. She had her first appointment at the pediatrician's office when she was 6 days old. She goes back on the 17th of July, I think. She had grown a half inch as of that appointment, but hadn't quite gained back what she lost after being born. I'm quite sure that she's eating enough now though. I still am only doing breastfeeding, and although it was tough at the beginning, I think we're doing well now. I'm very thankful for books and the internet to tell me what I needed to know. They did well at the hospital too, I'm not complaining about that, it's just that I didn't remember all the things they told me cause I couldn't process that much information all at once.
Gracie's still learning about daytime/nighttime. She sleeps a lot in the daytime and stays awake at night sometimes when I really wish she'd go back to sleep. I certainly don't mind getting up to feed her, but I do wish that she would go back to sleep after she's done eating instead of keeping me up for an hour or 2! Jeff stayed on the couch last night, and only got me up to feed her so I could get a little more sleep. That was extremely sweet of him. He wants to do that again tonight too. He can get her back to sleep more quickly, and she loves to sleep on his chest. I don't think he put her in the bassinet at all last night. He can hold her and keep her safe on his chest while he sleeps I guess, I sure wouldn't feel safe doing that though. We haven't been able to get her to sleep in the cradle that Dad made, so normally we take the bassinet into the bedroom and it is by Jeff's side of the bed. I just get up with her and take her out to the couch to feed her, and then I take her back in there to go back to sleep, when she finally goes to sleep for me. I also change her diaper right there in the bassinet, so sometimes she wakes Jeff up cause she doesn't really enjoy diaper changes.
Gracie also got her first real bath a couple evenings ago. Her cord fell off the other day, and then a day or 2 after that we gave her a real bath, she'd just had sponge baths up till then. She didn't like it, but she didn't hate it like I did!
I am hoping to start putting her into some of the adorable outfits she has soon. Up until now they were so big on her, but I think she's starting to get big enough that they won't look so huge on her. I really want pictures of her wearing all those adorable things, and I may do that some evening to try to keep her awake for a while. We try to keep her awake in the evening just so she's more tired when it's time for bed.
I guess that's enough of an update on how things are going with our adorable little angel. Last evening I was holding her after I fed her and she was so sweet. She was looking up at me and I was just so amazed at how beautiful she is. She is such an angel and I love her more than I could have ever imagined. I love her little smiles, and when she's hungry the way she kinda latches onto anything she can, including my chin sometimes. I like to get kisses from her that way, but I don't ever let her get too upset before I feed her, at least if I can help it!!!
